LACONIC
ARCHITECTURE

Laconic indicates a concise statement, a sentence expressing much in few words. The adjective “laconic,” or “Spartan,” etymologically derives from the Greek region of Laconia, alluding to the severe military discipline and terseness of speech of its people. Similarly, the Laconicum was the name given to the sole form of warm bath admitted by the Spartans: a dry sweating room of small dimensions, usually circular in plan and with no windows, adjacent to a source of heat. Drawing from this description, three specific and connected spaces were designed, each dealing with different temperatures, and sharp intentions.
